EAGLE HILLS JORDAN ANNOUNCES WINNERS OF ITS 2017 SARAYA AQABA SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

  • Eagle Hills Jordan will cover the full university tuition fees of the high-achieving beneficiaries for the entire duration of their academic studies
  • More than 90 students have benefitted from the Saraya Aqaba Scholarship Program since its inception

Aqaba, Jordan – 17 December 2017: Eagle Hills Jordan, the private real estate investment and development company behind four major mixed-use projects in Jordan, has recently announced this year’s winners of its annual Saraya Aqaba Scholarship Program. Through the scholarships, Eagle Hills Jordan will cover the full university tuition fees of the high-achieving beneficiaries for the entire duration of their academic studies.

First launched in 2008 through a partnership between Eagle Hills Jordan and the Jordanian Hashemite Fund for Human Development (JOHUD) as part of the fund’s Goodwill Campaign, the Saraya Aqaba Scholarship Program is carried out in Aqaba via the Princess Basma Community Development Centre. Commenting on this occasion, Abdallah Al Fraihat, Chief Executive Officer, Eagle Hills Jordan, said: “We are pleased to partner with the Jordanian Hashemite Fund for Human Development in order to actively contribute to improving the lives and opportunities of Aqaba’s youth. By empowering these driven, high-performers with the resources they need to further elevate their knowledge and skills and expand their opportunities and potential, we hope to create a brighter future for the Kingdom at large.”

More than 80 students have benefitted from the Saraya Aqaba Scholarship Program since its inception. The program is part of a shared commitment between both parties to support Aqaba students throughout their academic careers, while also helping them successfully transition into the workforce, creating meaningful sustainable development on both the local and national levels.

This year, the 10 scholarship recipients were announced during a special event held at the Saraya Aqaba Sales Centre. The ceremony was attended by representatives from all entities involved in the scholarship program, along with the scholarship recipients and their families, as well as the leaders of a number of local community organisations.

As part of Eagle Hills Jordan’s commitment to improving the knowledge and capacities of local youth and enhancing Aqaba’s human capital, the Saraya Aqaba Scholarship Program targets local residents who plan to live and work in Aqaba after completing their university studies.

Candidates must meet a rigorous set of academic prerequisites before moving on to the screening process, which includes personal interviews conducted by a team of representatives from Eagle Hills Jordan and JOHUD. Among other considerations, the committee focuses on the candidates’ socioeconomic situation, personality, soft skills and the nature of their major at university.

Saraya Aqaba is one of four world-class projects across the Kingdom currently being developed by Eagle Hills Jordan. Upon completion, Saraya Aqaba will feature a wide variety of facilities and amenities, including four five-star hotels, Aqaba’s first conference centre and water park, a diversified mix of more than 850 residential units, and a wide variety of leisure, business and entertainment facilities.
